The Nanny Movement proudly provides international placements for domestic workers, nannies, elderly caregivers, house managers, and au pairs.
How long might the process take?
The placement process usually takes at least two months to complete. This is an estimate, as it may vary based on the paperwork required by your country, including medical tests, visa applications, and other factors.
What responsibilities does the employer have?
- Provide the agency with an accurate description of the vacant position. The search for candidates will be based on the requirements given. Employers are advised not to change the criteria when we are in the process.
- Obtaining work visas and permits a candidate to gain residency in the country.
- The employer is liable for all costs related to medical tests, vaccinations, and any other requirements for the candidate to work in your country.
International package costs
This package applies to all placements outside South Africa’s borders.
- Registration Fee: $50
- Temporary/Trial period of up to 4 weeks. If the employer does not employ them permanently, the candidate should then return to South Africa: $350
- Permanent placement Fee: 14% of the gross annual salary, payable as a one time payment once the placement is finalized and before the candidate leaves South Africa

- Flights (We have a partner who can provide this service for an additional cost.)
- Visas, permits, or any medical or other examinations, courier costs, or any costs to get the candidate ready for entering the employer’s country

Terms and conditions
1. Definitions
- Agency: Refers to The Nanny Movement Recruit.
- Client: Refers to the family/employer seeking a nanny placement.
- Candidate/Nanny Pair/Caregiver: Refers to the individual introduced by the Agency for employment.
- Placement: The employment of a nanny by the client, whether permanent, temporary, live-in, or live-out.
2. Services provided
- The Agency introduces qualified candidates to the Client for the purpose of childcare, caregiving, and household-related duties.
- The Agency screens candidates through profile setup, reference checks, and background checks (where legally permissible).
- The Agency does not employ the nanny; the Client becomes the direct employer.
3. Fees and payments
- Registration fee must be paid before the process starts.
- Placement fees are payable upon written acceptance of an offer by the nanny.
- Fees are based on the type of placement (permanent, temporary, or trial).
- All fees are non-refundable, except where explicitly stated under the Guarantee Period.
- Payment is due within 2 days of invoice; late payments may incur interest charges.
- No candidate may join the family if the placement fee is not paid in full.
4. Client responsibilities

The Client is responsible for:
- Complying with employment, tax, and immigration laws in their country of residence.
- Securing the necessary work permits, visas, or residence documentation.
- Providing a written employment contract outlining salary, benefits, working hours, rest periods, leave entitlements, and termination conditions.
- Ensuring a safe working and living environment for the nanny.
- Make sure they are making the right and informed decision. Appointing someone means that you consider all the information provided to be fair and acceptable.
- The Agency accepts no liability for the Client’s failure to comply with local or international employment laws.
5. Guarantee period and replacements
- A guarantee period of 8 weeks applies from the nanny’s first working day.
- If the nanny resigns or is dismissed during this period (provided fair and lawful grounds are followed), the Agency will offer one free replacement.
- Replacements are subject to candidate availability and do not extend the original guarantee period.
- No refunds are issued unless specifically agreed in writing.
6. Cancellations
- If the Client cancels a confirmed placement before the nanny’s start date, [7%] of the placement fee remains payable to cover administrative costs.
- If the nanny cancels before commencement, the Agency will endeavor to find a suitable replacement at no additional cost.
7. Confidentiality
- Information about candidates is confidential and provided exclusively for the purpose of considering them for employment.
- We are committed to conducting only legally permissible checks.
- Sharing candidate information with third parties without Agency consent is prohibited.
- Any third-party employment offered to a candidate from our database and introduced by us will be liable for the placement fee.
8. Liability
- The Nanny Movement takes all its responsibilities very seriously. We will go to great lengths to produce high-quality candidates and maintain our lofty standards.
- It is important to remain reasonable to the extent of liability that the agency can be held accountable for.
- The Agency acts only as an introducer and cannot be held responsible for:
- Loss, damage, or injury caused by a candidate.
- Performance or conduct of the nanny once employed.
- The Client is encouraged to carry appropriate household, liability, and medical insurance.
- The final decision rests with the client, who selects a candidate based on the information provided. While the agency takes every care to present accurate and relevant details, it cannot be held responsible for any dissatisfaction with the candidate chosen.
- The agency’s role is to facilitate the process and provide all available information. Ultimately, it is the client’s responsibility to make a thoughtful and informed decision.
9. Termination of services
- The Agency reserves the right to withdraw services if the Client breaches these Terms and Conditions, provides false information, or fails to treat candidates or recruiters with dignity and respect.
